In my last post I argued the point that these former Nazi men should be shown mercy. In this post I will argue the other side. But i will strongly feel that they should be able to say.
What these men are being accused of falls under the crimes against humanity. “Crimes against humanity: murder, extermination, enslavement, deporta tion, and other inhumane acts committed against civilian populations, before or during the war; or persecutions on political, racial or religious grounds in execution of or in connection with any crime within the jurisdiction of the Tribunal, whether or not in violation of the domestic law of the country where perpetrated.” What these men did fall under this criteria. Ya everyone is going to say that they are no harm to anyone now and they have lived happy lives. But the truth is that they have committed crimes and they should serve a punishment. No one deserves to loose their life just because of religion or race. The people that these men killed were just the same as them except they were Jewish.
Even though these men were in the military, they still saw what was going on and should have been able to tell right from wrong. Even if they were ordered to shoot someone or be apart of a shooting they had the decision to pull the trigger or not. They could of asked for an alternate position. Also there is a law that stats that you cannot use the excuse of following an order. Many claim that they were just following an order. However they can turn down an order if they do not agree. These men should be sent back and exiled from America. They have committed a crime and are still guilty for what they have done. They need to be punished for their actions.
Having them sent back would show them that they are still at blame for what they did. It would also show them that no matter how long ago a crime happened they are still guilty. Also by sending them back will be a punishment in it self cause they well be away from their families. Who cares that they are old they need to be punished for what they did.
