The article Exile or Mercy for old Nazi guards is another example of how the effects of World War Two are still present till this day. In Michigan law official are trying to prosecute three former Nazi guards. These allegations are from event that happened during time period of World War Two. How can you possible now accuse someone of doing something that has happened over 60 years ago.
Like in the case of Mr. Leprich who served in the SS Death's Battalion. At the the time he was only 17. That is the age for a Junior or Senior in high school. Mr. Leprich was most likely forced into the Nazi regime like many others. Being 17 Mr. Leprich was taking orders not giving them. How can you possible fault some for doing what they were told especially during War time. He practically had no choice it was either serve the Nazi party or risk his own life.
I am not saying at all that I don't think what these men have done is wrong. I just dont understand how they can live in the States for so long and live good lives and now have all this pored upon them. I feel like these men came to the states to live a better life and try to put the past behind them. These men are living the normal American life and are no harm to society. Take Mr. Kalymon for example her worked at Chrysler for 25 years and then retired. His neighbors said that he was a wonderful man that helped shovel her snow. Its not like these men are in the States and hurting people cause of their religion or race.
I also strongly feel that these men should be able to stay cause of family reasons. They are all around the age of 80 and could be on the last stages of their lives. Deporting them is not just a punishment to them, but it also affects their families as well. Let them enjoy the last moments of their lives, don't remind them of the wrong they committed 60 years ago.
